My NY Ecosystem

@keithanderson·Yorktown Heights, NY
Public

I have about an acre of land that was extensively overgrown with invasive plants, especially barberry, bittersweet and mugwort. I have restored it to almost exclusively native plants. Restoring this land to a diverse mix of native plants and watching the insects and birds it attracts has been enormously satisfying. Now much of my time is spent keeping the invasive plants from returning while the new natives spread out enough to exclude them, which they are rapidly doing.
