A WILD mix of ideas for habitat gardening

Open Tour

Saturday, Sep 19, 2026

Marshouse sits on stilts in a salt marsh, with more than four acres of upland garden devoted to meadows, wild borders, woodland, thickets, and moss. Inspired by biodiversity, the garden is free of chemicals and filled with native plants chosen to support birds and wildlife. Invasive trees become habitat piles and log walls, while snags, a snake hibernaculum, and a clay-lined pond provide shelter for insects, birds, and other creatures. The result is a living experiment full of surprises.
